Radiant Orchid Silk Shirt

I've always loved turquoise, fuchsia, and purple colors.  I remember having my mom make me a dress with those colors for an 8th grade prom/dance.  She also make a cute turquoise tulle petticoat to match.  NO ONE had a dress as cute as mine.  lol.  Wonder if I'll still love the dress now?  When Pantone choose Radiant Orchid as one of the 2014 Spring colors, I flipped in excitement knowing merchandisers will soon follow suit.

This McCalls pattern was perfect for this silk knit I picked up awhile back as seen here.  Silk and cotton are the best fabrics to choose for hot and humid weather.  They are both breathable and light which gives you hours of comfort.  When the weather is hot, the last thing you want is synthetic fabric clinging to you.

I used a silk knit from Thai Silks

Few alterations were made to the pattern:

-Shorten to wear as top instead of dress (removed lengthen/shorten piece)

-Added 4 inches to length

-Used fold over elastic on hem at neckline

I’m looking forward to using this pattern again in different lengths, fabrics (silk/cotton) and sleeve changes.
