DIY Tie Back Dress

Dress: DIY

It’s well into summer and any appropriate outfit must include either of the following; sleeveless, open back, or strapless.  This cotton floral print fabric is reminiscent of a spring garden. The creative juices were flowing when I began making my pattern edits.  I went to my pattern archive (more like a vault) and found this OOP pattern (Butterick 3447), and went for option C.

Edits:

Ommited back zipper, replaced with elastic back waist

Lenghten dress to desired length

Added 8" to width for front and back, pleated the excess

Added a second piece to sleeve, pleats, elastic at wrist

Created square neck

Lined front bodice (due to sheerness of fabric)

Lengthen back ties

Cut front dress to create an empire waist
